USERRA protects reservists and guard members who get called up, making sure that the impact on your civilian job is minimized.   USERRA applies to all employers, regardless of size, and provides important protections for veterans with disabilities.  Because USERRA applies to all employers, it provides disabled veterans with more protection than the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which applies to employers with 15 or more employees.  More on USERRA is available at www.dol.gov/vets.

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) provides protection for members called for active duty who have lost income because of that active duty service.  It also protects active duty members if someone brings legal action against you in civilian court, giving you additional response time if your military service affects your ability to respond.
